Although “Barbie” star Margot Robbie and “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig were snubbed from the Oscars, the first teaser for the awards show was set in “Barbieland,” where Mattel dolls live.
In the video, the presenter of the 96th ceremony, Jimmy Kimmel, uses Strange Barbie (Kate McKinnon) to get to the Dolby Theater, the location chosen to host the awards ceremony, which takes place on March 10, in Los Angeles.
Along the way, Jimmy and Kate revisit some great nominees, such as the actors from “Poor Creatures”, “Oppenheimer” and “Maestro”.
When they finally arrive at their destination, the presenter has a crisis of self-esteem and is afraid to lead the ceremony. It is at this moment that America Ferrera, who gave life to Gloria in “Barbie”, appears and adapts the speech she made in the film.
Another moment highlighted in the teaser is the appearance of Ryan Gosling, Ken, who, by the way, already admits that he will not win the award for Best Supporting Actor. He accepts easily because he says that Greta “already has the Oscar in her pocket”. When he discovers that she is not nominated, he screams in despair alongside Kimmel, in reference to the scene in the film when the Barbie played by Margot discovers that her feet are straight.

To the delight of cinema fans and enthusiasts in Brazil, the ceremony will be broadcast simultaneously on TNT within linear TV programming, and in HBO Max in streaming.
As usual, the full coverage will feature a pre-show, starting at 7pm, following the celebrities on the traditional red carpet.
