Oscar 2025: announcement of nominees is postponed again; check new date

THE Academy has changed the date for announcing Oscar nominees again . Last Wednesday (8), the measure had already been taken after the change in the deadline for voting on nominations, which was extended by two days due to the fires in Los Angeles, in the United States.

According to Variety, the voting period, initially set to end on Tuesday (14), will now run until Friday, January 17. Nominations for the 97th ceremony will be announced next Thursday, January 23 . Additionally, the nominees will be revealed during a virtual event without in-person media coverage.

The winners of the award, considered the biggest celebration in the world of cinema, will be announced at the ceremony scheduled for March 2.

Other awards were affected after the fires

Following the fires in Los Angeles, the 30th edition of the Critics Choice Awards was also postponed. Initially scheduled to take place next Sunday (12), the The event has now been rescheduled for January 26th.

Furthermore, the SAG Awards which announced its nominees last Wednesday (8), changed the format due to the fires. Previously scheduled to take place in person, the award nominees were revealed exclusively through the event’s website and social media.
