Oscar co-host Amy Schumer says she was ‘traumatized’ by slap on stage

The co-host of the ceremony Oscar Amy Schumer said on Wednesday (30) that she is still “disturbed and traumatized” by the slap given by the winner in the category of best actor, Will Smith, in the face of the comedian Chris Rock during the ceremony on Sunday.

“Still distraught and traumatized,” Schumer said on Instagram three days after the events. “I love my friend @chrisrock and I believe he handled it like a pro. He stayed up there and gave the Oscar to his friend @questlove and the whole thing was so upsetting,” she wrote.

During the Oscars broadcast, Smith took the stage after Rock made a joke about the appearance of actress and presenter Jada Pinkett Smith, actor wife, and slapped the comedian in the face. The actor then returned to his seat and yelled profanity twice towards Rock.

Chris Rock regained his composure and announced the winner of the best documentary award for “Summer of Soul”, directed by musician Questlove.

“So much pain in @willsmith anyway, I’m still in shock and awestruck and saddened,” added Amy.

Schumer also said she was proud of herself and her co-hosts Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes.

“But yes. We are waiting for this nauseating feeling to pass after all we have witnessed,” she said.

Less than an hour after assaulting Rock, Smith won the best actor award for his portrayal of the father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams in the movie “King Richar: Raising Champions.”
