Japan's representative at the 2024 Oscars, “Perfect Days” , entered the Mubi catalog this Friday (12). The title competed for Best International Film at the main Hollywood awards.
The plot follows a middle-aged man, who lives a modest and serene life, spending his days balancing his work as the dutiful caretaker of Tokyo's numerous public toilets with his passion for music, literature and photography.
It is produced by award-winning filmmaker Wim Wnders, the name behind titles such as “Wings of Desire” (1987), “Paris, Texas” (1984), “Pina” (2011) and more.
The film stars Koji Yakusho , who won the Best Actor Award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, and is known internationally for his roles in “Memoirs of a Geisha” (2005) and “Babel” (2006), in addition to numerous Japanese hits.
