Oscar-nominated, “Vidas Passadas” arrives on streaming; know where to watch

Nominated for Best Film and Original Screenplay at the 2024 Oscars, “Past lives” entered the Telecine catalog this week. In addition, the title is also available for rent and purchase on platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video and Google Play.

The novel, which talks about much more than love, follows the encounters and disagreements of Na Young and Hae Sung over the years. They met as children in South Korea and lost contact after Na Yorg, who becomes Nora, moved to Canada with her family.

Twelve years later, they meet on social media and talk again. At different times in their lives, they decide to go their separate ways. Again 12 years pass and Hae Sung decides to go to New York, where Nora lives with her husband.

The plot is set in South Korea and the United States and has scenes in Korean and English. In addition to childhood love, the production explores themes such as immigration – and the impact that the circumstance has on a person's life – and presents the Korean term “in-yun” and how it fits into the protagonist's life.

The film is the South Korean filmmaker's debut title. Celine Song and stars Greta Lee (“The Morning Show” and “Russian Doll”), Teo Yoo (“Love to Hate You” and “Money Game”) and John Magaro (“First Cow” and “Crisis in Six Scenes”).
