The channel Telecine Cult will show this Friday (24) a special marathon with some of the Brazilian films that have already been nominated for an Oscar over the years, called “Brazil in the Awards”.
The thematic block shows “O Pagador de Promessas” (1962), directed by Anselmo Duarte. The film, winner of the Palme d’Or and the first Brazilian nominated for the Oscar for Best International Film, will be shown at the midday .
Subsequently, at 1:40 p.m. “The Quadril ” (1996), by Fábio Barreto, also nominated for the Oscar for Best International Film, with a cast starring Glória Pires and Patrícia Pillar.
The program continues at 3:35 pm with “Central do Brasil” (1998) and “Cidade de Deus” (2002). Closing the special, at 7:45 pm, “What is this, Comrade?” will be shown. (1997).
