THE Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed this Tuesday (15), the three presenters of this year’s edition. Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes were chosen to host the 94th ceremony, which will be held on March 27th.
“The event is about bringing movie lovers together, so we invited three dynamic and fun women with very different styles of comedy,” Oscar producer Will Packer said via the Academy’s official website. “I know that the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will have on stage will translate to the audience. Expect lots of surprises!”
In addition, the Oscars launch two new categories with public voting, best picture and best scene of the year. With the hashtags #OscarFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment, fans can submit their picks via Twitter. The novelty, released on Monday (14), would be an attempt to reverse the low ratings of the award in recent years.
Votes can be held until March 3 and the result will be revealed during the ceremony.
“We are reinvigorated by Will’s vision for this year’s Oscars: celebrating movie lovers alongside the hostesses and spotlighting fan favorites to show how cinema can bring everyone together,” said Academy President David Rubin, and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson.
The list of nominees for the 2022 Oscars was revealed last week and the highlight of the edition is “Attack of the Dogs”, which competes for 12 statuettes. Netflix production disputes the top 10 categories. The event will be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
