Oscars 2023, the race begins: the nominations for the SAG Awards 2023

If you asked insiders what the true thermometer is to understand which films could actually have a chance at the Oscars, they would probably answer the Screen Actors Guild Awards, better known as SAG Awards, or the prizes that are awarded by the Actors’ Union, one of the most powerful and feared organizations in Hollywood, made up of various voters of the Oscars. The 29th Annual SAG Awards will take place on February 26 and will be visible on the Netflix YouTube channel, even if we know that, starting from 2024, the ceremony will be broadcast directly on the streaming platform, to underline how much the award is tempting even if, at least in Italy, it is decidedly little known. The nominations, which range from cinema to TV, are in any case full of confirmations, given that we see camping among the films Everything Everywhere All at Once, a film that has been working hard on the awards season for over a year and which, for the occasion, will return to cinemas from February 2; The FabelmansSteven Spielberg’s masterpiece that has already won the Golden Globe, and The spirits of the island, the film with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson which is slowly advancing in the list of favorites of the Academy after the presentation in Venice. On the TV front, along with the second season of The White Lotus, at the second of Only Murders in the Building, and at the last of Better Call Saul And ozarks, however, we also point out the nomination to Adam Sandler, protagonist of the underrated Netflix drama Hustle which is good that the SAG Awards brought to light.
