Norway and Poland will establish a strategic partnership in the energy sector, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Stere said today during a press conference with his Polish counterpart in Oslo. “We will ask our civil servants to follow up on this matter to put an agreement in place, which is important for security, trade and industrial cooperation,” Stere said, without elaborating. Norway, which is not a member of the EU, already exports natural gas to Poland through the Baltic Pipe. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said it was “absolutely crucial” for Warsaw and the European Union to have access to affordable energy. “Our goal is cheap energy so that the economy of the European Union and the Norwegian economy can really compete with other economic powers in the world,” Tusk said at the press conference.
