Young Brazilian Award 2023
Last Tuesday (24), the production directed by Eduardo Albergaria received the “2023 Young Brazilian Award” in the Entertainment & National Film category.
The event took place in São Paulo, with a presentation by Carla Diaz and Guto Melo, and had a jury made up of journalists, columnists and opinion makers. Actor Lucas Penteado received the statuette on behalf of the production.
“It tells the story of many peripheral people in Brasilzão who dream of one day reaching an award like this. But for us to win an award, these films need to exist. There’s no way young black people can win awards for films that don’t exist. I believe it is a great initiative. However, our real dream is a dignified and quality life”, commented Lucas.
“It is an honor to see the film become the biggest Brazilian success of the year and be recognized in an award like this, which celebrates youth in its many aspects. This is just another sign of how national cinema is extremely valuable and audience and artistic quality can go hand in hand”, says Felipe Lopes.
