“Our patience has run out,” say mourning Palestinians in Gaza

Dozens of Palestinians gathered on Tuesday (16) to mourn those killed in Israeli attacks in central Gaza.

The bodies were covered with white sheets and laid on the floor, while mourners stood nearby or sat beside the bodies, weeping.

Sahar Abu Emeira, one of the mourners, criticized the continuation of the war. “It’s been 10 months, we are exhausted, we are devastated, we are extremely tired, our patience has run out. Whether it’s Hamas or the others (Israel), they need to come to an agreement as soon as possible.”

Israel struck the southern and central Gaza Strip on Monday (15) to put more pressure on Hamas, following a weekend attack on the militant group’s leadership that killed dozens of Palestinians seeking shelter in a makeshift camp.

The military also stepped up air and tank bombardments in central Gaza’s historic al-Bureij and al-Maghazi refugee camps. Health officials said five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on a house in the Maghazi camp.

Palestinian health officials said 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in Al-Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip on Monday morning (15).

The war began after a Hamas-led attack inside Israel on Oct. 7 by militants that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took more than 250 hostages to Gaza, Israeli officials said.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s military offensive since October 7.
