Bulgaria informed today that there were cases of bird flu in three farms in the southern part of the country, according to the World Animal Health Organization (Woah), while Europe is facing seasonal resurgence of deadly disease. The H5N1, which is highly pathogenic, was found in three poultry farms with a total of 28,000 birds in the city of Rakovsky, Woah said, based on reports by the Bulgarian authorities. At least two of these farms are bred ducks. The spread of bird flu is causing concerns in governments and poultry farmers after the disease has killed entire flocks in recent years, disrupting supply and launching food prices, while increasing the risk of being transmitted to humans.
