Outdoor masks, goodbye to the obligation from Friday

With the ordinance of the Minister of Health Speranza the official status arrives today: from Friday 11 February the obligation to wear the outdoor masks. It applies to all color bands, not only in the area as anticipated by the Undersecretary of Health Costa at theHandle. It must continue to be worn in case of gatherings and for outdoor shows and sporting events.

Again it is a step towards easing the bans in a timetable that the government has established at least in the first stages. It remains the Green Pass for most of the activities and for many it serves strengthened at least until March 31, the day in which the state of emergency expires. However, some experts would like to extend this measure at least until June. The date could be that of the 15th which is the one in which the vaccination obligation for over-fifties ends.

For the masks it remains the obligation indoors (for this you must always have them available) and the differentiations in the type of mask remain in force. Ffp2 are needed for theaters, concert halls, cinemas, entertainment venues and live music. The same applies to sports halls and to all long-distance or local public transport.

The date of February 11 is the one they return to also open dance clubs. To enter you will need the reinforced Green Pass, the one you get with vaccination or recovery as for cinemas and theaters. In indoor discos it will be mandatory to wear a mask except when dancing. The premises have capacity limits of 75% outdoors and 50% indoors. The capacity of the stadiums and sports facilities is still reduced, but could soon change: 50% of the maximum allowed outdoors and 35% in those indoors.

The obligation to wear masks outdoors arrived at Christmas 2021 and stops earlier than it lasted last year. This signal seems to go in the direction desired by many that the pandemic is indeed becoming endemic. However, it is not certain that next autumn there will be no obligation to wear masks that remain indoors and that have been canceled in the past only in the summer months.
