Output of Inep servers does not affect Enem 2021, says former president of the Institute

In an interview with CNN, Maria Inês Fini, the former president of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), stated that the departure of 37 employees from the institution in the last week does not affect the realization of this year’s Enem.

For Maria Inês, students do not need to worry about the internal crisis that affects the institution, and should prepare for the National High School Exam, which takes place on November 21st and 28th.

“In relation to the tests, they are already printed and distributed in Brazilian army bases in the cities where they will be applied. The application coordinators have already been properly trained, the security agents too. This phase should not worry the participants”, he said.

However, the former president also stated that the departure of the servers must be quickly circumvented by the Institute’s managers.

“This scenario should worry managers, because we have attempts to invade the database by hackers and we have false news that cause several damages. We have to hope that the situation of these servers is resolved and that they can take over the monitoring of risks and be on duty in the days prior to the examination”, he said.

The employees leave after a series of complaints of moral harassment and lack of technical criteria made against the president of Inep, Danilo Dupas.

“Inep has improved over the last 30 years, both in statistics and in evaluation, in an essentially technical way. Leading these teams presupposes an involvement of knowledge. [Os servidores] they did not find support to exercise each of their functions”, said Maria Inês.

This crisis, according to her, could put the other actions of the Institute at risk. “Statistics allowed us not to have a blind flight in public education, it is essential because it provides the element for the IDEB (Basic Education Development Index), which monitors the quality of education over the years. It is very important that Inep is preserved”, he said.
