Over 30 missing due to landslide in China’s Scheuan province

More than thirty people were missing yesterday in a village in China due to a landslide in Setsuan province, in the southwestern part of the country, the CCTV public television network reported. The disaster unfolded around 11:50 (local time; “Ten houses were buried, more than 30 people were declared missing and about 200 were rushed and transferred to reception centers,” CCTV explained. The Ministry of Emergency Management announced that investigations and rescue groups rushed on the spot and seeking survivors. Two people were saved, according to the same source. Research and rescue workshops recommended that residents were rushed to the village, as the landslide was still ongoing. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered the authorities to do “everything” to “rescue missing, minimize the number of victims and to properly manage the consequences of the disaster”. Authorities released 30 million Juan (about 4m euros) to support search and rescue operations. Source: RES
