Authorities on southern China’s Hainan Island have already evacuated more than 419,000 residents as a precaution as super typhoon Yagi approaches, China’s official Xinhua news agency reported today. China is bracing for what could be the most powerful tropical storm to hit its southern coast in a decade. The typhoon is expected to make landfall this afternoon on the coast of Hainan, a popular tourist destination, according to the province’s weather service.
