Over 89,000 cases in 24 hours in India

THE India announced today Saturday the highest number of new coronavirus cases since September and the most deaths due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome syndrome it has been causing in the last six months.

The federal health ministry said 89,129 SARS-CoV-2 infections had been confirmed in the past 24 hours, the highest number on a daily basis since September 20, 202.

During the same period, another 714 patients with COVID-19 succumbed, the highest number since October 21.

The pandemic toll has so far reached 164,110 deaths out of a total of about 12.4 million infections, according to official data.

It is the fourth heaviest infection in the world, after the United States, Brazil and Mexico, and the third highest number of infections, after those in the United States and Brazil.

The spread began to accelerate in the giant Asian state in March, with the richest state, Maharashtra, where the financial capital Mumbai is located, suffering the heaviest blow.

The head of the local government in Maharashtra warned yesterday that he does not rule out imposing a new lockdown to stop the spread of the virus.

Negative case record in Ukraine

THE Ukraine recorded a record increase in new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, announced today the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov.

Stepanov wrote on social media that 5,186 patients were hospitalized during the same period, while 396 died.
