Representatives of the M.Video-Eldorado group today, April 18, officially announced that in the first quarter of 2022 (January-March), the demand for smart home devices and accessories increased by 1.5 times compared to last year, and the range of products is represented to a greater extent by Russian and Chinese brands. Experts note that several factors affect the increase in demand at once. Firstly, the preservation and expansion of the product range, including models that are quite accessible to a wide range of buyers. Secondly, consumers themselves are already more aware of the possibilities and key benefits of smart solutions.
And, thirdly, one of the key factors is smart speakers presented by Russian brands with voice control, which act as the central hub of the smart ecosystem. Also, representatives of the trade group note that the most popular products in the smart home segment are remotes, sockets, light bulbs, IP cameras and various sensors. The most popular brands at the same time, which is quite expected, were Yandex, Xiaomi and Aqara, and the lion’s share of sales in the smart speaker category was taken by devices running Alice from the same Yandex.
For example, in the top of the best-selling models are “Station Mini” (with a clock), “Station Light” and “Station Max”. Probably, the very unusual showroom of M.Video also influenced the increase in demand – at the beginning of 2022, the company opened a special room in the form of an apartment with smart gadgets. In this room, the user can test the ecosystem, see how voice control works and what functions are available with a particular gadget. At the same time, the company has more than 700 simpler test zones throughout the country.
