Over two hours, the Biden-Xi Jinping conversation focused on US-China disputes

THE Joe Biden had telephone contact with him Xi Jinping and they talked for over two hours, with the main topic being the differences – especially the commercial ones – between the USA and China.

The White House issued a statement noting that “the conversation between President Biden and President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China concluded at 10:50 a.m.,” while Agence France-Presse reported that the phone call had begun 2 hours and 17 minutes earlier, at 08:33 AM. (Washington time).

It is noted that this was the fifth communication the two leaders had after Joe Biden took over the US presidency, but the tension between Beijing and Washington is becoming increasingly difficult to hide. A final point of friction is potential travel of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi in Taiwan.

China considers the island to be one of its historical provinces, which it has yet to reunite with the rest of the country. US officials fear that Beijing is considering a military invasion of Taiwan to impose its control.
