Ovida attacked the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force on Saturday Lebanonas announced by his representative, in the second similar incident after the exchange of fire intensified on the border with Israel.
“Ovid hit the interior of the Nakura base”, said Andrea Tenendi, FINUL’s representative in Lebanon, via X (the former Twitter). He clarified that it did not explode and caused no casualties, only material damage. He added that the blue-collar workers are trying to find out where it came from.
“Israeli shell penetrated concrete wall” of FINUL’s headquarters in southern Lebanon, a few kilometers from the border, an AFP source in the Lebanese army said on condition of anonymity.
On the Israeli-Lebanese border, exchanges of fire are practically daily between the Israeli army and the powerful Shiite movement Hezbollah after war broke out on October 7 between the Israeli army and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
Over 1,400 Israelis and foreigners, mostly civilians, have been killed since that day in attacks by hundreds of Hamas fighters against sectors of Israeli territory. In retaliation, the Israeli army has since pounded the Gaza Strip, and the enclave’s health ministry said yesterday that more than 8,000 people had died, also mostly civilians.
Half were children.
FINUL said in a statement that several of its facilities had been damaged “over the last three weeks”. “We call on all parties (to declare a ceasefire),” he added.
The blue-collar headquarters in southern Lebanon had already been hit by a rocket on October 15.
