“My dream ended,” the owner of the motorcycle that was dragged by the balloon that fell in the Aricanduva neighborhood, in the east of São Paulo, posted on social media in the early hours of this Monday (22).
A large balloon hit a residential area at around 3:40 am, scaring local residents. The crash also disrupted power supply in part of the city’s eastern zone.
Motorcycle courier Kaue Ribeiro Ramos, 20, was sleeping and woke up to the noise of his motorcycle colliding with other vehicles.
“A balloon rope got caught on my motorcycle, which hit my mother’s car. The car flipped over and also hit the neighbor’s car,” explained Kaue.
The young man reported the incident on his social media, unhappy with the situation. See the video .
In other posts, Kaue said that the vehicle was his work tool and that he will now have to be out of work for a few days. The young man’s mother also used the car that overturned for work.
The motorcycle was trapped in the electrical wiring, but was removed by Enel technicians this morning. The Traffic Engineering Company (CET) and the Fire Department accompanied the operation.

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) informed the CNN that the Environmental Offenses Investigations Division will investigate the case.
In 2024, the Fire Department responded to 15 fires caused by falling balloons. The Military Environmental Police seized 35 balloons this year.
