Oxford scientists get advanced on quantum teleportation

A team of Scientists at Oxford University has reached significant advancement, paving the way to face computational challenges before range, which can enable the quantum in the future.

The study, published by the magazine Nature, He used a photonic network interface and successfully connected two separate quantum processors to form a single quantum computer.

“These photonic links allow quibits in separate modules to be tangled, allowing quantum logic to be executed between the modules using quantum teleportation,” says Oxford University.

Although quantum computing exists for decades, this is the first time there is a demonstration of quantum teleportation of logical doors . “According to the researchers, this could establish the foundations for a future ‘quantum internet’, where distant processors could form an ultra-segration network for communication, computing and sensing,” explains the institution.

Study leader Dougal Main of the Physics Department stated: “Previous quantum teleport demonstrations focused on the transfer of quantum states between physically separated systems. In our study, we use quantum teleport to create interactions between these distant systems. ”

According to him, when adapting interactions, it is possible to perform fundamental operations of quantum computing, allowing to connect different quantum processors.

The university explains quantum teleportation as “the transfer of quantum information over long distances almost instantly using entanglement.”

“The successful demonstration points out how a distributed approach can quantum capabilities In addition to the limits of a single device, preparing the scenario for scalable and high performance quantum computers, powerful enough to perform calculations at times when today’s supercomputers would take many years to solve, ”says the institution.
