Eurogroup President Pascal Donahue, from Brussels, appeared optimistic that the economic recovery in the eurozone will continue over the next year.
Addressing the Eurogroup meeting, P. Donahue pointed out the “very positive trends” observed in terms of employment and economic growth, while at the same time saying that the issue of inflation is taken into account.
“In general, we see the recovery continuing and we should look at the rest of this year, but also next year, with confidence,” he said, expressing confidence that the eurozone would emerge from the pandemic, continuing to pursue economic policies that help economies and citizens recover.
The issue of the eurozone’s economic governance and the role of the Eurogroup in the debate on fiscal rules will also be discussed with EU finance ministers, Donachio said.
