P. Gentiloni: ‘Greece’s exit from the enhanced surveillance regime is very important’

“Athens’ exit from the regime of enhanced supervision is, from a political point of view, a very important result, both for Athens and for Brussels,” European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Paolo Gentiloni told the Athens Macedonian Agency.

“This is a result due to the efforts of the citizens and the excellent cooperation of the Greek authorities with the European institutions. I congratulate the Greek authorities for achieving the goal, which was set some years ago and is of particular value,” Gentiloni added.

At the same time, the competent European commissioner underlined in APE-MPE that “of course Athens’ dialogue with the European institutions will continue, as is the case with Cyprus, Spain and Portugal, but it will be a much more relaxed, easier phase”.

Finally, Paolo Gentiloni, speaking at the Union of Foreign Correspondents in Rome, spoke in favor of rules for reducing the public debt of Eurozone countries, which are characterized by greater realism, and stressed that “the European Commission’s proposal will follow this direction.” .
