P. Kontoleon: The Prime Minister was never informed about the surveillance – Secrecy was invoked by Mr. Dimitriadis

The meeting of the Parliament’s Institutions and Transparency Committee on the National Intelligence Service’s surveillance of the mobile phone of the president of PASOK – Movement for Change (then MEP of the Movement) Nikos Androulakis has been in progress since 10 am.

According to information that first came to light in media friendly to SYRIZA, the former commander of the EYP, Panagiotis Kontoleonreportedly said during his hearing that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis or his office were never informed of decisions regarding the declassification of communications.

At the same time, he is said to have underlined that only if it was deemed necessary, updates were made on the results of the investigations and this through official memos.

According to the same information, the former commander of the EYP refused to refer to the Androulakis case, even as to whether the specific file has been destroyed.

At the same time, the former general secretary of the Prime Minister is said to have invoked the confidentiality of national security matters. Grigoris Dimitriadis.

It is recalled that at today’s meeting of the Institutions and Transparency Committee, the following have been invited for a hearing:
