P. Skourletis: Why should the Greek people learn from foreign officials that we are sending armor to Ukraine?

The Prime Minister is repeatedly exposed because he can not give an interview, just before we learn from the lips of Soltz about sending tanks and say nothing. “Stocks” have strategic value. Replacement comes at a cost. Here they have no people in the hospitals and they expel the people, who have been suspended, I am referring to the 12,000 hospital staff, and they go and order other weapons. Here we are missing from the schools. So here come pensions which are low and the New Democracy tells us about new weapons and that we are already upgrading.

I hear and based on the reports, new weapons systems follow in addition to the Rafale, in addition to the French frigates, in addition to the F-35s, Italian weapons systems follow. This path of over-armaments is a dead end and the greatest involvement in this absurd armaments hunt is not a service to the cause of peace. This is a huge issue.

For the recent threat of war from Turkey

That is why we are sending to Ukraine what is left over from the “stocks”, which is supposed to be unnecessary? Why did we take them then, since these “stocks” are unnecessary? Do they have no value? We ask questions to the government to answer us.

I ask questions and I want formal answers. Are there no institutional procedures for these things? It’s bleeding when we talk about over-equipment – other are the necessary equipment – and especially in a country where people have gone to jail for this story, who have been kicked out. There have been starters for weapon systems. New Democracy has a sinful past, PASOK has precedents, the other partner of bipartisanship.

Here, unfortunately, we see that the government is behaving in an irresponsible way, in relation to the critical and existing issues that we have based on the aggressive and provocative behavior of Turkey. The leak that happened is not something that escaped Mr. Panagiotopoulos. It is part of a dangerous tactic that tries to use existing problems to create impressions in the domestic political scene. If this happens it is very irresponsible. We must therefore put these issues aside and address them with a stable foreign policy, which is characterized by a specific strategy. What should be the strategy? The strategy of the peaceful settlement of our disputes with Turkey on the basis of the decisions and rules of International Law. Erdogan is doing what I told you inside. Erdogan is currently hotly contested. You read in a report last week that he even has money on his side and a way to escape from an emergency, so what does he actually do? He uses Greece and not only Greece, and the problems with Syria, to create corresponding impressions inside. So these issues require a clear strategy and composure.

For the new executive office of SYRIZA-PS

First of all, we are talking about a new institutionalized body. Because what existed in the past was the “morning coffee”, the responsibility of the composition of which was exclusively the President of SYRIZA. This is the first time this has been approved by the Political Secretariat. It has a purely executive character, at least, an instrument of day-to-day executive management of things. Consequently, the place where policies will be taken and formulated beyond the Central Committee is the Political Secretariat. We will see how it works. I believe that we should all honestly have a unifying mood the day after the conference on the basis of these decisions and life will now show the correctness of our choices.
