On March 31, 2019, Pablo Lyle was heading to the Miami International Airport to take a flight to Mexico, but he never imagined that the altercation he had with the driver of a car over a traffic incident would bring fatal consequences.

Just last October 4, a judge in Miami found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter, for which the Mexican interpreter was awaiting his sentence until February 3, when the resolution of the case was announced.

During the trial, several people had the opportunity to make statements, such as the son of Juan Hernández, who asked Judge Marissa Tinkler Méndez for the maximum sentence for Lyle. Likewise, the accused also had the opportunity to address a few words to the victim’s relatives.

I’m really sorry […] I offer you the most sincere apology I have ever offered in my life. I can say that I have learned a lesson. I know they lost someone very important, I can’t do anything to bring them back.

After listening to the defense, the prosecution and all the people who issued their statement, the judge delivered her verdict. In addition, she explained to Lyle that he has a 30-day period in case he wants to appeal the decision.

Mr. Lyle, how are you going to resolve conflicts in the future? I don’t think it will ever be the same way he acted that day or as he had acted before, this requires courage and strength. Therefore, the court sentences Mr. Lyle to a period of five years in state prison, followed by a period of eight years of probation. Mr. Lyle will have to take conflict resolution classes, also anger management. Mr. Lyle will be required to provide 100 hours of community service.
