PACE rejects the entire list of candidates for judges of the ECHR from Russia

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe rejected the list of candidates from Russia to be a judge of the European Court of Human Rights. This was reported on the PACE website.

The report says that the committee for the selection of judges of the ECHR recommended the Assembly not to approve the list of candidates in Russia due to the fact that some questions of the selection committee were not answered during the meeting.

In total, the Russian list includes three candidates: Andrey Bushev, Mikhail Lobov, Natalia Pavlova.

Aleksey Goncharenko, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, claims in Telegram that the candidates were rejected due to the unfair holding of the competition in the Russian Federation itself.

According to him, in connection with the decision of the committee at the June session of the PACE, an ECHR judge from Russia will not be elected. However, on Wednesday the committee will meet again – and the Russian lobby will try to raise this issue again, Goncharenko predicts.
