Pacheco intends to guide in February a project that makes ICMS on fuels fixed

The president of the Senate and Congress, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), told the CNN that intends to guide the project that changes the calculation of the tax on fuels still in February and that will submit the matter for discussion in the college of leaders at the beginning of next month in search of consensus.

Also according to Pacheco, Senator Jean Paul Prates (PT) will be the rapporteur of the project in the House and is already working on the text.

The statement comes after the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP), said on his social media on Sunday (16) that charges by governors for ICMS solutions should be addressed to the Senate, as the Chamber of Deputies approved in October the project that establishes a fixed amount for the collection of fuel tax (Complementary Law Project 11/20). The bill has not yet been voted on in the Senate.

Lira made the statements after the governors’ decision to unfreeze the ICMS in February. The tax was set in November, with a period of 90 days. However, the governors decided not to extend the measure and, thus, the value will return to the market price from January 31.

The Complementary Law Project 11/20, which is awaiting analysis in the Senate, makes the tax invariable in the face of adjustments in the price of fuel at the refinery or changes in the exchange rate for a period of 12 months.
