The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, said this Monday (4th) that he had asked the Traffic Engineering Company to change the speed limit on the city’s edges.
“I determined that CET-Rio present me with a change in the limit of Rio’s waterfront later this week. And we are going to move forward with these changes in other roads in the city!”, he wrote on social networks.
Paes also commented on actor Kayky Brito being run over, putting it as an example that the speed allowed on many roads is “excessive”.
“The accident of actor Kayky Brito shows that the speed allowed on many roads in the city is excessive. To imagine that our Orla – a place of contemplation, leisure and peace – has a maximum speed of 70km is absurd. Regardless of responsibilities in the case at hand, it is not permissible to maintain this, ”he said.
