Four senior local government officials and police were killed in an explosion that occurred Wednesday in northwestern Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan. The responsibility for the attack was assumed by the Islamic State (IK) regional arm, as reported by the French Agency citing law enforcement officials. Another 11 people were injured in the explosion, which took place near a popular market, said Wakas Rafik, a police officer in Batzor, in the province of Heiber Pachththva. Hours later, the Islamic State in Horasan (IKX) announced that it had triggered a bomb with which it trapped a motorcycle, targeting a vehicle on which the officials were carrying.
