Parts of it look like a sea Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said today after visiting some of the flood-affected areas covering up to a third of the country. So far 18 deaths have been recorded making the death toll from days of rain increased to 1,343.
Up to 33 million people out of a population of 220 million have been affected in a disaster blamed on climate change that has left hundreds of thousands homeless and caused at least $10 billion in damage, officials estimate.
“You wouldn’t believe the scale of the devastation there,” Sharif told media after visiting the southern province of Sindh. “There is water everywhere as far as the eye can see. It’s just like the sea,” he said.
