Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Wednesday (30) at local time that the country has reliable information that India intends to launch a military attack over the next 24 to 36 hours.
This occurs at a time when tensions between the two nations with nuclear weapons increase, as India stated that there were Pakistani elements in the attack that killed 26 people in a tourist spot in Caxemira Indiana last week.
Islamabad denied any involvement and requested a neutral investigation.
Since the attack, nuclear weapons nations have adopted a number of measures against each other, with India suspending the crucial treaty of Indian waters and Pakistan closing their airspace to Indian airlines.
“Pakistan has reliable information that India intends to launch a military attack over the next 24 to 36 hours, using the case of Pahalgam as a false pretext,” Tarar said in a post on the X X Platform.
“Any act of aggression will be received with a decisive response. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region,” he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India did not immediately respond to a request for commentary from Reuters.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to pursue and punish the aggressors.
Cashmire, mostly Muslim, is fully claimed by India, mostly Hindu, and Islamic Pakistan. Each one controls only part of it and has already crashed wars through the Himalayan region.
Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif told Reuters that an Indian military foray was imminent.
Pakistan is on maximum warning, but will only use its nuclear weapons if “there is a direct threat to our existence,” Asif said in an interview at his office in Islamabad.
