Pakistan seeks to avoid “total war,” says CNN Defense Minister

The Minister of Defense of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif, said to CNN That the country is “trying to avoid total war” against India after the conflict between the two countries on Wednesday (7).

According to the minister, India sent an “invitation to expand the clash” by ordering a deadly bombing against Punjab and the caxemira managed by Pakistan, which constitutes “a clear violation” to him.

Asif insisted that the military of Pakistan are prepared “for a total war,” after India has increased “bets” this week – after decades of tensions in one of the most militarized places in the world.

“What happens next is that we are prepared for a total war. There is no doubt that, because India is increasing the intensity and risks of this conflict,” Asif added. “So … we can’t be caught by surprise.”

Pakistan’s Armed Forces fired missiles and overthrew five Indian fighters “in an air combat”, according to the country’s head of defense, which described military actions as an “appropriate lesson” for New Delhi.

When pressured to provide evidence, Asif cited a social media video.

“[A Índia] already admitted that three planes were slaughtered, ”said Asif to CNN . “These planes were slaughtered in an air combat. Missiles were fired by our planes and they were slaughtered. Very simple,” he added.

Unlike Asif’s allegations, India did not say that either of its planes has been shot down.
