Pakistan: Two policemen killed and six injured in attacks near northern Afghanistan

Two police officers were killed and six others wounded today, including a young girl, in attacks in northern Pakistan near Afghanistan as local Taliban insurgents agreed to a month-long ceasefire after talks with government, police said.

“The two policemen were killed by an improvised explosive device at 10 a.m. (local time),” Abdul Samad Khan, a senior local police official in the Bajaur district, told Reuters.

The other attack took place on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, where a police officer and five civilians were injured, including three women and a young girl.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police patrol in the area, according to Ali Raja, a senior police officer.
