A spokesman for the president of the Palestinian Authority strongly condemned the approval by the United States House of Representatives on Saturday (20) of a $26 billion aid package for Israel.
The aid will be directly correlated with the growing number of Palestinian victims, spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said, according to a statement published by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Abu Rudeineh called the aid package a “dangerous escalation” and an act of aggression against the Palestinian people. He said the support gives Israel the green light to expand its war across the region and undermines prospects for regional and global stability.
The House-approved aid package still faces a vote in the U.S. Senate before being approved.
Protesters gathered near the Wilmington, Delaware, home of US President Joe Biden – who supported the aid package – holding signs and chanting, calling for a ceasefire.
One chant that can be heard is “Biden, Biden, you can’t hide, we accuse you of genocide.” They also chant “Biden is a war criminal” and “Genocide Joe has to go.”
The president will spend the weekend in Wilmington.
