Palestinian families flee in Gaza after new attacks from Israel

Palestinians carried their belongings on the streets of Beit Lahiya After running away from Beit Hanoun in Gaza on Tuesday, after a series of Israel’s air attacks in various places and withdrawal orders that closed weeks of relative calm after negotiations to ensure a permanent ceasefire were paralyzed.

A video obtained by Reuters shows people moving on foot, cars, trucks and carts pulled by animals.

The attacks hit north tents homes and camps south of the Gaza Strip, and Israeli tanks bombed across the border line, witnesses said.

Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas accused each other of violating the truce, established in January and which offered a rest of the war for the 2 million inhabitants of Gaza, where most buildings were reduced to rubble.

Hamas, which still maintains 59 of the approximately 250 hostages that Israel says that the group has captured in its attack of 7 October 2023, accused Israel of compromising mediators’ efforts to negotiate a permanent agreement to end the fighting, but the group made no rectalization threat.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered attacks because Hamas rejected proposals to ensure a ceasefire extension during hesitation negotiations.

The Gaza Ministry of Health, administered by Hamas, said more than 400 people were killed in Tuesday’s attacks – one of the deadliest days since the war began.

Much of Gaza is now ruined after the war, which broke out on October 7, 2023, when armed men led by Hamas attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people, according to Israeli counts.

The Israeli campaign in Gaza killed more than 49,000 people, according to Palestinian health authorities, and destroyed most of the enclave houses and infrastructure, including the hospital system.
