Palestinians leave Jenin during the third day of Israel’s operation in the West Bank

Hundreds of Palestinians fled the West Bank refugee camp in Jenin yesterday during the third day of a major Israeli military operation that has left at least 12 dead. Backed by construction machinery, aircraft and armored personnel carriers, elements of the Israeli army launched an operation dubbed “Steel Wall” on Tuesday, two days after a cease-fire agreement was implemented in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation was aimed at “eliminating terrorism in Jenin”, a city next to a refugee camp in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
