The Palestinian population should not be expelled from Gaza, said the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (27), after US President Donald Trump said Jordan and Egypt should welcome the Palestinians.
Asked about Trump’s comments, a Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that Berlin shares the opinion of the “European Union, our Arab partners, the United Nations that the Palestinian population should not be expelled from Gaza and that the territory should not be permanently occupied or recolonized by Israel ”.
Jordan is already home to several million Palestinians, while tens of thousands live in Egypt.
Both countries and other Arab nations reject the idea that Gaza Palestinians are transferred to their countries and the territory is a land that Palestinians would like to be part of a future Palestinian state.
