Palestinians thank US university students and Israel calls for expulsion of students

Gatherings of people in northern and central Gaza on Wednesday expressed gratitude to students on US college campuses protesting the war in Gaza.

In Deir al-Balah, in front of the Al Aqsa Martyrs hospital, doctors, nurses and staff held signs with messages that read “United against genocide”, “The killing of children must stop” and “Continued fight for justice”.

Doctor Saad Abu Sharban told CNN that he was “over the moon” with the images of protesters in other countries, because it meant “that all over the world there are human beings who know what is happening here in the Gaza Strip right now”.

Palestinians in Gaza have been showing support for US protesters for several days. In several refugee camps in the Palestinian enclave, on Wednesday (1), children could also be seen holding posters and banners with the names of different American universities where pro-Palestinian demonstrations were held, saying “thank you for your solidarity!”

Nadia Al-Dibs, a mother whose children held signs behind her in Deir al-Balah, told CNN that she was grateful to the “courageous students” at American universities for their solidarity with Gaza and for calling for a ceasefire.
