According to the 4th Quarterly Progress Report for the Year 2021 of KEAO, the total overdue insurance debts at the end of 2021 amounted to 41 billion euros, that is, presented increase by 2.2 billion euros compared to the previous quarter. This increase comes from both the increase in principal debts (by 1.7 billion euros) and additional fees (by 486.8 million euros).

An increase in the number of registers is presented in all debt categories, with the largest being recorded in debts between 50 and 500 euros (by 131,103 registers).

In addition, there is an increase in total debts by about € 3.5 billion compared to the same period last year, which is due to both an increase in principal debts (by € 1.9 billion) and additional fees (an increase of EUR 1.6 billion). More specifically, there is an increase in all categories of debt with the largest (by 1 billion euros) being located in the debt range between 10,000 and 100,000 euros, in which 44.7% of debts accumulate.

Expenditure on social benefits has increased.

The Organization of Social Solidarity Welfare Benefits (OPEC), in 2021 (until December), has paid almost 3.5 billion euros.

The Expenditure on social benefits in 2021 was 291.9 million euros higher than in 2020 (8.2%).

Indicatively, about 852.4 million euros were paid for welfare disabilities (about 20.7 million euros more than in 2020), for housing and housing assistance about 392 million euros (about 34.5 million euros more than in 2020).

About € 1.2 billion was paid for family and child benefits – including, among others, about € 152.6 million (about € 110 million in 2020) for childbirth to around 151,000 beneficiaries (107,049 in 2020) and approximately € 75,000 to protected children of those killed in natural disasters (44,000 less than in 2020).

Approximately € 653.5 million was spent on the payment of the minimum guaranteed income (around € 20.5 million less than in 2020), while around € 50.2 million was paid as a social solidarity allowance for the elderly (approximately € 43.8 in 2020). ) and € 82.6 million to uninsured seniors (around € 13 million less than in 2020).

The State contribution for the protection of the debtors’ main residence (red loans) amounted to more than 3 million euros (995,022 euros in 2020).

More than 223.6 million euros were paid for the “Bridge” program 17 (housing subsidy program as a measure to protect citizens against the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, from November 2020 onwards).
