Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov, on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel, said that there would be no shortage of office paper in Russia, and also added that prices for it were returning to January-February levels.

In parallel with this, information appeared that in the Yaroslavl region, the head of the logistics department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stole 20 boxes of paper for resale. To convict him, the operatives conducted a test purchase.

The scheme was uncovered through a local businesswoman, from whom the police made a test purchase and found out that the paper should be on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The woman confirmed that Vyacheslav Zhemchugov, a senior specialist in the logistic support group, gave her 20 boxes of paper. Zhemchugov later explained that he took the paper at the direction of the chief Ivan Lednev, who was in charge of logistics.

Further investigation showed that Lieutenant Zhemchugov received 74 boxes of paper in the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, of which 20 were missing somewhere. Zhemchugov gave them to the businesswoman, the proceeds were planned to be divided.

A criminal case will be initiated against the employees under article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Assignment or embezzlement”.
