Parades are canceled in Russia amid fears of drone attacks

A total of 21 Russian cities will not celebrate Victory Day on May 9 for fear of drone attacks.

The authorities of the cities Kaluga, Ryazan, Oryol, Saratovof the city of Gusev in his area Kaliningrad and cities Lipetsk Yelts and Tyumen canceled “for security reasons” the May 9 parades.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that this year the authorities will not be able to “hold a celebration as they would like.”

Also festive events will not take place even in the cities remote from the front such as Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut and Handy–Mansiisk. The mayors of the cities in question say they want to express “their solidarity with the other regions of the country”.
