Energy workers and police officers found the farm and confiscated two transformers of 1,000 kVA each, plus 176 bitcoin mining devices.
An ANDE spokesman said this is the second major seizure of mining equipment in a row, triggered by electricity theft and illegal digital asset mining businesses. A few days earlier, Paraguayan authorities in the Paraguari department confiscated 396 ASIC devices, along with other equipment.
The official noted that in the near future the Paraguayan Senate should pass a bill to regulate mining and cryptocurrencies. The law makes illegal miners punishable by up to ten years in prison, while giving ANDE more tools and powers to combat power theft.
