The government of Paraná announced that it intends to privatize Copel, the state-owned energy company this Monday (20). The operation will be through the offering of shares and the objective of the government of Paraná is that no shareholder has more than 10% of the company’s shares.
With the news, Copel’s shares soared more than 20% on B3. At 10:50 am, the share rose 24.16%, R$ 8.89.
Currently, Paraná owns 69.7% of the voting shares in the company.
And the intention of the government of Ratinho Júnior is to reduce this participation to 10% of the shares with voting rights. In the market, this model of company with dispersed capital is called “corporation”.
With the operation, the government of Paraná says that the raising of financial resources will make it possible to “meet the investment needs of the State of Paraná, as well as the appreciation of its remaining shares held in Copel”.
