The indications of Europe, to promote gender equality, are those from which the news on parental leave. The government has approved two draft legislative decrees transposing European directives. They will have to go to Parliament and then back to the Council of Ministers for final approval.

Paternity leave becomes mandatory for 10 days, not divisible into hours. It can be requested by the father from the two months preceding the birth to the following five. Workers who have children up to 12 years of age have priority in smart working agreements, there is no limit in the case of children with disabilities. \
The age of the child increases for which parents, including adoptive parents and foster carers, can use parental leave: from 6 to 12 years. The total duration of the right to leave for single parents rises from ten to eleven months. The parental leave allowance, equal to 30 per cent of the salary for each parent, increases from 6 to 9 months. They are three months non-transferable for each parent plus another three months that can be transferred between parents. There is up to three years for children with severe disabilities.
