O Parintins Folklore Festival reached its historic peak in searches this month, as happened with the bois-bumbás Capricious It is Guaranteed who compete annually for the title of the Amazonian event. The statement is the result of a survey carried out by CNN at the Google Trends which analyzed searches for the terms on Google since the beginning of the platform’s historical series, in 2004.
Searches for the three terms had been showing a standard annual fluctuation, with emphasis on the middle of each of the years shown in the graph, the period in which the festival takes place in the city of Parintins, in Amazonas. The 57th edition of the event, won by Caprichoso, followed suit and doubled the mark reached by the 2022 edition, celebrated for breaking a two-year hiatus without competitions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s Parintins Festival had extra publicity, as Isabelle Nogueira, from Garantido, spread the event’s image during her time on BBB 24. The Amazonian, who performed the song that the red ox made in her honor several times during confinement, reached the final of the TV Globo reality show and won third place.
Isabelle Nogueira’s figure was so important that searches for Boi Garantido, in the last 90 days, surpassed those for Boi Caprichoso in all states of the federation. The blue ox only managed to minimally balance the dispute in states in the North region, such as Amazonas itself (47%), Roraima (45%), Rondônia (45%) and Pará (42%).
The red ox, in turn, boasts its greatest sovereignty in searches coming from states such as Tocantins (76%), Amapá (74%), Goiás (72%), Acre (71%) and Espírito Santo (70%).
Another fact that boosted searches for Garantido was the death of Djidja Cardoso, who had been his former lord of the farm. Terms such as “djidja”, “former lord of the guaranteed”, “djidja cardoso”, “boi Garantia djidja cardoso”, “sinhazinha do Garantia died” appear at the top of the list of searches related to the red ox on the rise.
Other relatives of the former princess accused those closest to her of committing crimes in the victim’s home, including performing rituals with illicit substances. Cleomar Cardoso, Djidja’s aunt, accused the defendants of denying help to the victim and encouraging her drug addiction. After the investigation was concluded, the Civil Police of Amazonas indicted 11 people in the case.
As for searches related to the Parintins Festival itself, Google users focused on general information about the competition. Terms such as “parintins festival 2024 who won”, “who won the parintins festival 2024”, “parintins 2024 results”, “parintins festival results”, “parintins festival schedule” and “where to watch the parintins festival” stand out.
