Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso won, this Monday (3), the 56th edition of the Parintins Folk Festival, in Amazonas, with the theme “O Brado do Povo Guerreiro”. This was the 25th title of the cultural association.
In the three days of presentation (June 30th, July 1st and July 2nd), the bumbá addressed the popular revolution expressed in the culture and knowledge of the Amazonian people, which is the greatest weapon against prejudice and oppression.
In addition to the official victory, Caprichoso also won a prize of R$ 20,000 for collecting 1,017.4 kilos of waste for recycling in the social action promoted by the festival’s organization. With the amount, investment will be made in sustainability actions in the association.
The opening of the event took place on Thursday night (29), at the so-called Festa dos Visitantes, with performances by Ludmilla, Simone Mendes and David Assayag, this one with the special and surprise participation of Fafá de Belém.
During the three nights of the Parintins Folk Festival, the two groups presented their plots over three blocks totaling 2 hours and 30 minutes, to the sound of toadas (or songs) consistent with the proposal and that refer not only to the municipality of Parintins, but also to the Amazonian culture in general.

The Boi-Bumbá Garantido, runner-up, took to the bumbódromo this year the theme “Garantido Por Toda Vida”.
The group’s struggles and victories since its foundation were remembered with a setting and costumes that even reproduced the lamps of the old streets of Parintins, to the sound of classics such as “Mapinguari” and “Coração de Batuqueiro”.
In addition, the also known as “Boi do Povão” made an appeal in this year’s presentation for the end of illegal mining in the Amazon, while also defending diversity through the speech used by the body of dancers, with emphasis on the presentation of the singer Márcia Siqueira together with Amo do Boi, João Paulo Faria.
