Paris alarm: Security men shoot man with knife at train station

Shots were fired Monday night (1/11) at Saint-Lazare train station in Paris. According to the French media today, men of the railway security forces opened fire on a man who threatened them with a knife.

BFM TV and CNews broadcast that the man was seriously injured, while earlier he had pulled out a knife and shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is Most High) when the men of the security forces approached him because he was not wearing the protective mask that is mandatory under the measures in force to limit coronavirus.

The motives of the attack are not known. A Paris police spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

A spokesman for the French capital’s prosecutor’s office said an investigation had been launched into attempted murder and the promotion of terrorism.
