Paris and London condemned the executions of Iranian protesters: “It is scandalous”

The French Foreign Ministry described his execution as “scandalous”. Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, who were sentenced to death by the Iranian authorities after being arrested as part of the crackdown on protests in Iran.

Paris also urged Tehran to “listen to the legitimate expectations of the Iranian people.”

“The execution of protesters cannot be the answer to the legitimate expectations of the Iranian people for freedom,” the announcement of Kent d’Orsay emphasizes. The executions are “in addition to the many other serious and unacceptable violations of fundamental rights and freedoms committed by the Iranian authorities,” the statement continued.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley also called on Tehran to “immediately stop violence against its own people”. In his post on Twitter, Cleverley recalled that Britain opposes the death penalty “in all circumstances”.

The two men were hanged after being sentenced to death on charges of killing a member of the security services during the protests over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, after she was arrested by the morality police last September.
